Remote Work Setup in Bali: How to Choose the Right Villa

Remote work setup in Bali: a laptop at a wooden desk on a villa terrace, surrounded by tropical greenery

Choosing a Bali villa for a holiday is easy: you pick the prettiest pool. Choosing one to work from is different. You need a place that stays calm, connected and comfortable from your first coffee to your last email, and ideally one where the rooster respects your 9am call.

The good news is that the right villa for remote work in Bali comes down to three things: where it sits, what’s around it and how it feels at 3pm on a Tuesday. So let’s choose it properly, by location, by atmosphere and by the kind of workday you want.

First, Decide What Kind of Worker You Are

Before you scroll through a single listing, answer one question: do you recharge by being around people, or away from them?

  • Need buzz? You want to be walking distance from cafés, so your lunch break is a five-minute stroll, not a taxi.
  • Need quiet? You want a lane with more frogs than scooters, and a pool you can have entirely to yourself.
  • Need sea air? You want to finish your last email and be near the beach before the sun drops.

Everything below depends on that answer. Bali is small, but the areas feel very different.

Quiet and Productive: A Pererenan Villa Built for Focus

Best for: deep work, couples, anyone who wants to disappear into their laptop and reappear at sunset.

Pererenan is Canggu’s calmer sibling. It’s close enough that you’re minutes from the cafés, surf breaks and beach clubs, but far enough that your mornings sound like birdsong instead of traffic.

Umayam Sanctuary is the villa we’d point a serious remote worker toward. Two bedrooms, warm wood, with a private saltwater pool and the thing everyone ends up asking about: a private infrared sauna. It’s the kind of “end of work” ritual that makes Friday feel earned.

The practical side is where it shines. It runs on dual internet, with Starlink backing up GlobalXtreme, and solar panels with battery backup keep the power steady during blackouts. Dyson air purifiers and purified water at every tap are part of the package too. In other words, it was designed by someone who has actually tried to work in Bali.

The monthly price also includes Wi-Fi, drinking water, electricity and daily cleaning, so there’s no surprise bill at the end of the month.

Calm and Coastal: A Bingin Villa for Slow Mornings

Best for: writers, creatives, and anyone whose best ideas arrive after a swim.

Bingin is a different Bali. It’s a coastal village on the Uluwatu side, with cliffs, surf and a pace that makes you check whether your watch has stopped. You don’t come here for nightlife. You come here to hear the ocean, and then sit down and finally write that proposal.

Villa Sari 2 has two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a private pool and a spacious living area with a big sofa. It’s warm, with local décor and natural wood. The fully equipped kitchen means you can cook your own dinner instead of ordering one more nasi goreng. Tagged “Calm and relax” for good reason, it’s also available monthly.

Working from here is easy to set up. We can arrange a desk and monitor before you arrive, so your first workday starts at a proper workspace, not a laptop balanced on the sofa.

A tip: the monthly price here covers Wi-Fi, cleaning twice a week and fresh linen weekly. Electricity and consumables like gas and drinking water are billed separately, so factor that in when you compare monthly costs.

Walkable and Social: A Canggu Penthouse for the Short Stay

Best for: couples, short work trips, and anyone who wants the café scene on their doorstep.

Not every work trip is a month. Sometimes it’s a long week where you want to be in the middle of things. For that, Batu Bolong is hard to beat: one of Canggu’s most walkable strips, a short stroll to the beach, surf shops and more flat whites than you can reasonably drink.

Makia Penthouse 1BR Pool is a one-bedroom on the third floor with its own rooftop pool, private living room and fully equipped kitchen. The pool and living spaces are yours alone, not shared with the other units. After the laptop closes there’s a game corner with console gaming, a football table and a 65-inch TV. Daily housekeeping is included.

It’s for two guests and it isn’t listed for monthly stays, so think of it as your short, social, walk-everywhere base.

The Insider Tip

Before you book a monthly stay, ask for the total monthly cost, not just the headline rate. Some villas include electricity, drinking water and daily cleaning in the price. Others bill them separately. Neither is wrong, but you want to compare like with like. That’s why we list exactly what’s included on every villa page.

Your Bali Office Is Waiting

The best villa to work from is the one that fits your day: the quiet corner that helps you focus, the beach nearby that clears your head, or the walkable street that keeps you in the middle of it all. Pick the setting first, and the rest tends to sort itself out.
